Clerkhill school was built in 1969 to accommodate the town's expansion, and has a traditional building with 18 classrooms, a library, information technology room, main hall and small hall, and large playing fields, in addition to a new 40 place nursery unit. The school has a reputation for academic success. The science club, chess club and athletics club are active and well supported.
